Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find my building's specific compliance deadlines?
Your building's compliance deadlines depend on its community board district (for LL152), tax block number (for LL11 and LL87), and equipment inventory (for LL26 and FDNY requirements). KomplyOS automatically calculates all applicable deadlines based on your building's profile.
What happens if I miss a compliance deadline?
Missing a compliance deadline typically results in DOB or agency violations, civil fines (ranging from $1,000 to $10,000+ depending on the law), and potential operational restrictions. Some violations carry daily penalties for continued non-compliance. It is always better to file late than not at all.
How far in advance should I start preparing for a compliance deadline?
Start at least 6-12 months before major deadlines (LL11, LL87) and 3-6 months before recurring deadlines (LL26, LL152, FDNY). This accounts for inspector scheduling, weather delays, report preparation, and any required corrective work. KomplyOS sends automated reminders at appropriate intervals.
Do these deadlines apply to all NYC buildings?
Not all laws apply to every building. Applicability depends on building size (LL87: over 50,000 sq ft, LL97: over 25,000 sq ft), height (LL11: over 6 stories), and use (LL152: buildings with gas service). Review each law's specific requirements or use KomplyOS to automatically determine which laws apply to your buildings.
Can I track all these deadlines in one place?
Yes. KomplyOS consolidates all NYC building compliance deadlines into a single dashboard. It automatically determines which laws apply to each building in your portfolio, calculates deadlines, and sends proactive reminders so nothing falls through the cracks.
